WEDDINGS
Rev. Laura has performed over 300 wedding ceremonies and has worked with each and every couple to ensure that their day was exactly what they hoped for. Together we will create the perfect ceremony for you - one that speaks to your hearts and lets your loved ones know exactly how you feel about each other and what your commitment to your life together will look like. It can be as simple as using the vows and ceremony Laura will provide for you to choose from, or you can write and share your own vows together. You can add in any ceremony ideas that speak to you; candle lighting, hand fastening, smudging, cedar cleansing or whatever your imagination can come up with to make your day as unique and special as you are as a couple. Laura has a selection of vows and ceremony ideas that she will share with you after you book and confirm your ceremony with her.
Commitment Ceremonies
Rev. Laura is pleased to perform your Commitment or Vow Renewal ceremony. You choose the location and invite who you like, and together we will make it special. This type of ceremony is for those who don't want a legal ceremony, or for those who want to recognize a special anniversary by renewing your wedding vows.
LGBTQ Weddings
Rev. Laura is thrilled and honoured to perform a wedding or commitment ceremony for any loving couple, regardless of gender or orientation. All love is special and wonderful, and Rev. Laura will work with you to ensure that the wording of your ceremony and vows reflects who you are; both individually, and together as a couple. Happiness and love knows no bounds, and celebrating together with family and friends will bring lasting memories.
Elopements or "just the legalities" or Destination
Some couples choose to keep their wedding private. Some like to keep it small, and not have all the trimmings. Some are looking to have a "destination" wedding, but know the challenges of getting married in a foreign country. Whatever the circumstances, together we will tailor a ceremony that is right for you. Couples are required to provide two witnesses for the ceremony and to sign the documentation. If you would like Laura to provide the witnesses and keep it really private, she is able to do that also.
Coastal Karma Sisterhood Circles
Every time women gather in a Circle, they heal a little bit more. And so does the world.
If you look up sisterhood in the dictionary, here’s what you’ll find.
noun: sisterhood
sis·ter·hood
The solidarity of women based on shared conditions, experiences, or concerns.
To us, sisterhood means drama-free, authentic, uplifting, transformative, soulful friendships between women who choose to practice self-accountability, integrity, and compassion. Truly needed, right? Sisterhood is nurtured through what we call Sister Circles; they are safe, sacred, in-person gatherings where we women are supported in sharing our truths (however painful), seeing others and being seen, deeply listening to others and feeling heard, healing, growing, and transforming into the women we were born to be. Sisterhood Circles are of course, limited to women only. Circles are held locally in Powell River on or around the time of the new moon.

Baby & Naming Ceremonies
Celebrate the arrival of your new bundle of joy with a naming ceremony. For those who chose not to baptize or christen their child in a church or religious ceremony, this may be the perfect way to welcome a child into your family circle. Share the event with friends and family, and make it inclusive and meaningful. Naming ceremonies can also be a wonderful way to introduce an adoptive child, or to welcome children into a blended family. Together we will create a ceremony that reflects your family and your beliefs.
